Welcome to Colne Valley Male Voice Choir, Yorkshire

1oo years of singing

In 2022, on May 8th, we started celebrating our Centenary Year  – yes we’ve been singing for 100 years.  Quite an achievement!  We’ve held landmark concerts and many special events to celebrate our ‘Glorious Heritage’ and we’ve got big plans for our ‘Fabulous Future’ in 2024 and beyond.

One big new venture is ‘Let all Men Sing‘.   This is a new community initiative to encourage men, who maybe only sing in the shower  to come together and sing as a group.  The programe starts again in 2024.  There are 8 Thursday evening sessions, starting on the 18th of January at The Civic in Slaithwaite with Thom and Chris presiding and culminating in a one-off performance in Slaithwaite on Sunday afternoon March 17th.

The LAMS  Initiative will give you a warm welcome.  We know that all men can sing if they get the chance – and have some fun trying it out .  Sessions run from 7.00 to 8.30  with a chance for a cuppa and a chat afterwards.

Not that we’ve stopped recruiting for the main Choir  – the last few months  have seen a good handful of new singers joining us .  You can be another one.  You would be very welcome!  We’re still  aiming  for 101 singers for our 101th year.

So if you are a tenor, a baritone or a bass –  we would be very happy to see you at rehearsals on Monday nights.  Contact Choir Secretary, Jenny, on 01484 645192.  She’ll make sure you can sing in – or just drop by on a Monday night.

Give us a try.  It could be the best move you make in 2024.

Our Rich History

One of many visits to the Llangollen Eisteddfod. This was in 2011. No Choir has a better record of prize-winning at Llangollen than Colne Valley Male Voice Choir.
